The Rugby Union Players’ Association (RUPA) is pleased to announce a new partnership with Hays, reinforcing a shared commitment to supporting Australian rugby players in building professional development skills off the field.

The partnership will see Hays work alongside RUPA’s Player Development team to deliver tailored vocational support for current and transitioning players. With expertise across a broad range of industries including both corporate and blue-collar sectors, Hays will play an important role in equipping players with valuable tools and resources to leverage themselves as professional athletes. This includes, connecting players to its extensive national and global networks.

Through the form of group seminars and/or one-on-one career consultations with specialists, Hays will provide structured support to past and present players across key areas of vocational development including CV preparation, LinkedIn optimisation, networking strategy, transferable skills and interview preparation. As part of this process, any player who is considering transitioning out of the game will receive a complimentary career/recruitment consultation for the purpose of preparing for life after rugby and securing new career pathways.

As part of the collaboration, Hays will also be actively involved in RUPA’s marquee events, including the Annual RUPA Lunch, where they will present the Hays Academic Achievement Award, recognising players who demonstrate outstanding commitment to education and personal development alongside their rugby careers.

RUPA’s Commercial and Communications Manager, Ananya Bhindi, commented that the partnership represents a continued evolution of the Association’s career support framework, particularly for players transitioning out of the game.

“We are proud to be partnering with Hays to ensure that players are well prepared for life after rugby, and can leave the game with direction and confidence. Importantly, we are pleased to offer all past and present players with access to tailored vocational support from Hays, designed to expand their career pathways." Hays’ Managing Director of Corporate and Professional Recruitment, and long-time supporter of RUPA, Andrew Hanson added,

“Rugby players build exceptional, highly transferable skills through their experience in elite, high‑performance environments. At Hays, we are committed to unlocking potential and creating meaningful career opportunities, and we are proud to partner with RUPA to help players confidently transition into fulfilling careers beyond the game.”

This partnership reflects RUPA’s ongoing commitment to whole-of-career support - ensuring Australian rugby players are empowered to thrive both during and after their time in the game.
